Puebla de los Angeles (Town of Angels) was founded after Mexico had been colonized by the Spanish. Puebla had originally come to prominence due to the textile industry. After the establishment of the Volkswagen plant and the development of the supplier industry in the years that followed, Puebla continued its growth into one of the most important industrial centers in Mexico.

Today, almost all major automotive suppliers, including Benteler, Krupp, Magna, TRW, Siemens, Brose etc., have a presence in Puebla.
Puebla's strategic position on the major highway that connects Mexico City with Veracruz (the largest seaport in Central America and Mexico's most important port) only enhance the city's economic importance.

VPT de Mexico S.A. de C.V. was founded in 1993, with its headquarters in Puebla, Pue. Originally, the company concentrated on producing special wooden packaging for the suppliers to the automobile industry. With the establishment of a second plant very close to the VW industrial park, capacity has increased significantly.
